The Process
Owner Produced Parts
These panels are classified as "Owner Produced Articles", under the guidance of FAR Part 21.9(5) and AC 2020-62E. We work to create a design based on photos, descriptions, and sketches provided by owners and/or installers.
Custom Designs
We provide custom layouts within the available space of the structural stationary panel which these overlays mount to. We gather our data straight from the stationary panel, so we can put any custom hole layout within the available space of your aircraft. If you're not sure what will fit, reach out to our team to find out how we can create a solution for you.
Materials Used
Panel overlays are cut on our CNC router using 6061 T-6 for most Upper Panels, or 5052 for most Lower Panels. Thickness varies depending on the aircraft model and instrument installation requirements.
Fabrication Process
We start with providing a drawing of the hole cutouts, and once that is approved we will proceed with cutting the panels on our CNC router. Once that is finalized we will provide a laser engraving drawing with suggested placard and labels which can be customized. Polycarbonate templates are available on request. Powder coating and laser engraving are optional. Custom logo engraving is available.
Minor Alteration
These panel overlays can be installed as a minor alteration only, intending to replace the shock panels and plastic overlays with the same or better materials. We recommend consulting your A&P/IA prior to finalizing the design.
Turn Around Time
Our process typically takes 4-6 weeks depending on project complexity and owner response time. Each panel is custom crafted by our team in the Pacific Northwest.

*All 180, 182, 185, and 200 series will require sending a polycarbonate template prior to finalizing the design.
